Dr. Seuss...

All week we will celebrate a love of reading with our favorite author, "Dr. Seuss." Each day our students will participate in activities that the whole school is involved in:

Monday, Feb. 27 –"I Am Not Getting Up Today" Day

                      Wear your Pajamas!

*A Family Literacy Event will take place after school from 4:00 – 5:30 PM. Parents and students are invited to come out and participate in a Seussical Celebration!!!

In addition, my firsties will create one truly unique and special Seuss character, "The Cat in the Hat."  And so much more...I can't wait!!!!!

Tacky The Penguin!

So Adorable...

We just loved the story about Tacky the Penguin. We used the story to kick off our study about penguins. We created our own version of Tacky...We used global village and safari craft paper for Tacky's chest. We have gotten so many compliments on our penguins. I must say that they are  outstanding...see for yourself!

We completed these little charts to show what we discovered about penguins.

Just a little winter time fun...This week we have been working on our snowman glyphs. The kids had so much fun working on their snowmen/snowgirls. Check them out and see what you can learn about our class!

Snow Globe Writing!

We used the book, "The Snow Globe Family." as our jumping off point for a writing/crafty activity. The kids loved the story. We then created a "Snow Globe," and finished the prompt, "If I lived in a Snow Globe, I would..... The idea was inspired by the ever creative Deanna Jump. I think they turned out so cute.
